Frequently Asked Questions
Is my journal data private?
Yes. Self Guru primarily uses local device storage, so journal entries and personal settings are stored locally on your device where applicable. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete a journal entry?
Open the entry inside the App and use the delete option where available. For full removal instructions, including clearing all app data, visit our Delete Data page.
Will my data be backed up if I switch phones?
Because data is stored locally on your device, it will not automatically transfer to a new device unless a backup or sync feature is available and enabled. If cloud backup features are introduced in future, this page and our Privacy Policy will be updated.
How do I manage or cancel a subscription?
Where subscriptions are enabled, they are billed and managed through your app store account (Google Play or Apple App Store). Open your app store's subscription settings to view, change, or cancel.
The app isn't working properly. What should I do?
Try closing and reopening the App, checking for App updates in your app store, and restarting your device. If the issue continues, email us at support@selfguru.app with your device model and a short description of the issue.
Troubleshooting: No Sound or Narration (Audio/TTS)
If guided meditations, affirmations, or narration are silent or hard to hear, this is usually caused by a missing or inactive text-to-speech (TTS) voice pack on your device rather than an issue with the App itself.
- Check your device volume and silent mode — make sure media volume is turned up and your device isn't in silent or Do Not Disturb mode.
- Install your language's voice pack — on Android, go to Settings > System > Languages & input > Text-to-speech output, select your preferred TTS engine, and download the voice data for your language.
- Activate the voice pack — after installing, set it as the preferred voice/engine and run the on-device "Listen to an example" test to confirm it plays audio.
- Update your TTS engine app — ensure apps like Google Text-to-Speech (or your device manufacturer's equivalent) are up to date from the Play Store.
- Restart the App — close Self Guru fully and reopen it after installing or updating voice packs so the new settings are detected.
If narration still isn't audible after these steps, contact support@selfguru.app with your device model and Android/iOS version.
